Do you know Tigers can weigh as much as 660 pounds? They are even capable of defeating lions, which are called “The King of the jungle.” Tigers live in rainforests, grasslands, savannas, and even mangrove swamps. Did you know that Tigers are very strong? They have a strong bone structure with over 600 muscles which makes them apex predators in their natural habitat. They also can leap more than 30 feet in a single jump which gives them a clear advantage when it comes to finding and attacking their prey. Tigers are extremely strong animals. If you meet some, don’t mess with them! They are solitary animals and that means that each and every tiger has to be able to hunt and kill prey for its survival, since there is not a pack to support them. Small to medium-sized animals usually make up the average tiger’s lunch, most ungulates, pigs, wild deer. Watch out, though because these animals can stay up for 2 weeks without food, but when they do catch their prey, they can eat 75 pounds of meat at once! Sometimes, tigers also prey on other predators in their habitat, including wild dogs, leopards, pythons, bears, and crocodiles.
From the six subspecies of tiger, three of them are endangered, and three are critically endangered being the southern Chinese tiger which is the most threatened of all for more than 25 years. Also, they continuously face threats such as poaching and habitat loss, which has put them in serious danger of extinction. However, People’s fear of tigers has made the species be unfairly accused of attacking men. Tigers are dwindling in population numbers and we have to stop them from becoming extinct.

Tigers are very important to the environment because they keep the population of their prey in line, which in return maintains the balance between herbivores and the vegetation upon which they feed.
