Making Your Dream Bucket List || By Naina Mishra

Writing a bucket list has always seemed like a daunting task to me. Not because I don’t know what I want to do but because there is so much I want to do. It’s like walking into an ice cream store and trying to pick between getting a salted caramel chocolate ice cream and mocha almond ice cream, it seems impossible! Recently though, I finally figured out how to write my personal bucket list and hopefully it can give you the inspiration to write your own too.

  1. Make a goal for your bucket list.

Your bucket list should have reasoning behind it. Are the things you want to do helping you face your fears, are they lifetime goals, do they have emotional connections to you, or are they dreams? You could also name your bucket list something meaningful that gives it a definition for you and gives the list its own identity.

  1. Write your bucket list down in a place you’ll remember.

This is probably the most important step. It’s always a good idea to write all your goals down for your bucket list and remember to write down any new ideas you have. Another useful tip is that keeping your bucket list in a quick and accessible place is always a good idea so that if an idea suddenly strikes you, you can quickly jot it down.

  1. Pick a reasonable length for your bucket list and timelines for when you want to complete certain goals.

In your bucket list, you should have a wide variety of goals, with short-term and long-term goals. You should also have a realistic length for your list, rather than having too short or too long of a list that can seem under or overwhelming.

  1. Come up with ideas.

This is always the most exciting part of making any bucket list. I think the best way to come up with ideas for your bucket list, is to create several categories and come up with one or two ideas for each category. Some category suggestions are food/drink, adventures, travel, facing your fears, animals, etc. Another way to come up with ideas is creating goals based off of things you think are cool or things you wish you could do.

  1. Stay motivated.

When you’re first starting to create your bucket list, it’s always super easy to stay excited and to keep track of your bucket list. However, as time goes on, and you get caught up in your daily work, it’s easy to forget about your bucket list. This is why it’s super important to keep your bucket list accessible and to stay motivated in completing your bucket list. Maybe pick a buddy for some goals or write down your bucket list on a sticky note and stick it to your bathroom mirror so you see it everyday or set a reminder in your calendar to repeat once a month (or at any other frequency) to keep yourself motivated.

A bucket list is an amazing way to keep track of all the things you want to do in life. Life is shorter than it seems and it’s so important to live your life to its fullest. Some of the things you want to do in life may seem daunting or maybe even the idea of writing a bucket list can be daunting, but you’ll never know all the things you want to do in life until you start your bucket list. So what are you waiting for, start writing your bucket list because there’s a whole world out there to explore.
