Katie Zhao

Katie is a high school sophomore who goes to Raleigh Charter High School. She has a wide range of interests. Last year, she and three other members of her Girl Scout troop painted a mural for the Salvation Army. This sparked her passion for cultivating and strengthening her community. In addition, she is also tutor for her school’s organization — Two Steps, where she gained teaching experience. Besides this, she and a team of three other wrote an award-winning musical about a female Irish pirate: Grace O’Malley. She’s a member of her school’s Mock Trial team. She’s also played the piano for 10 years. Katie picked up softball back in freshman year, and hasn’t stopped playing since! In her free time, she loves re-watching her favorite childhood shows/cartoons, writing poetry, and listening to showtunes from Broadway.
